Common questions
Getting started
Do I need a club membership or LK license?
No — LongestRally is fully independent of clubs and the German tennis federation. No Aufnahmegebühr, no annual membership, no Arbeitsdienst.
What skill level is this for?
Tournaments are organized by skill level — from Satellite (beginners) to Masters (advanced). For your first tournament, the organizer will ask you to self-rate according to the NTRP rating scale so you're placed in the right category.
Can I join mid-season?
Yes — tournaments are independent events. No season lock-in. Your points start counting from your very first match.

What's the tournament format?
Tournaments run as round-robin groups followed by knockout rounds. Everyone is guaranteed multiple matches in the group stage before the bracket begins.
What's included in the entry fee?
Court booking, tennis balls, water, and a trophy for the winner. Just bring your racket. Tournaments start from €50.
How do I pay?
After you confirm in the tournament WhatsApp group, the tournament director shares payment details there. No online payment is required at enrollment.
What if I end up on the waitlist?
When a spot opens, you'll receive an offer notification with a time window to accept. If you confirm in time, your enrollment is locked in and you'll receive the WhatsApp group invite.
Player challenges
What's the difference between a competitive and a friendly challenge?
Competitive challenges count toward your ELO rating — wins push it up, losses push it down. Friendly challenges don't affect your ELO and are good for practice or getting a feel for a new opponent.
Do I need to book a court for a challenge match?
Yes — unlike tournaments, challenge matches are self-organized. Once your opponent accepts, emails are shared automatically. You coordinate a time, book a court, play, and log the result on the platform when you're done.
How does ELO differ from my tournament ranking?
You have two numbers: a tournament ranking (ATP-style points earned based on how far you progress in each event) and an ELO rating (a live head-to-head strength measure that updates after every competitive challenge and tournament match). Tournament ranking determines your position on the season leaderboard; ELO reflects your current form.
